Do Something New

Do something new as often as you can.

Volunteer for St. Jude's to answer phones during their radioathon. Be nervous and talk so fast that ppl can't understand you.

Watch a Brazilian Dance Company's show. Be amazed at their flexibility and the fact that they must have practiced thousands of times to be so coordinated together to African music that doesn't seem to vary enough to give them an idea of when they should leap and kick at certain points.

Watch a horrible play about lesbians trying to decide if they want to have a child. Be so appalled at the lead character's overacting, the shallow characters, the lack of a pervading theme that you want to get up and leave halfway through. Don't, it's rude. After sitting through it and wanting your money back consider writing a letter to the editor about play ending with "I'd rather stay home and watch lifetime television than that play."

Stay home and watch lifetime television.

Take someone who's never eaten sushi before out for sushi.

Go to a comedy club. Write a comedy routine (okay, you know I didn't do this).

Design something. Put together a piece of art.

Take your sister out to "The Dessert Theater Experience" in honor of Valentine's day where they serve dessert and you watch theater.

Cook something new. Try to figure out where you can buy an actual fennel.

Volunteer to subsitute for a preschool class. At recess play duck, duck, goose and ring around the rosy with the kids. Love how sweet and huggable most of them are.

Meet someone new. Take in all the different and interesting things about them. Share new things with them.

Be happy in all the newness. :)
